Regular exercise is an important part to maintaining a healthy weight, to having a longer life, to reducing everyday stress, and has been linked to the prevention of many diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke, osteoporosis, and some forms of cancer.
The current recommendation from Health Canada is at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least five times a week for women. I know as a mom trying to balance work, family, home, carpooling etc., it isn’t always easy. Finding the right activity that is both fun and convenient to your schedule is key. That might be a brisk 30-minute walk, your favourite fitness DVD, or a trip to the neighbourhood recreational centre for one of their many programs.
City of Brampton
The City of Brampton offers a wide range of programs, and many geared to the new participant. From the challenging Body Sculpt fitness class which incorporates a variety of equipment into this class to the Cardio Groove which mixes it up with Samba, Reggae, Burlesque and Salsa, there is something for everyone!
Other classes include: Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Nai (a fusion of dance and martial arts moves), Spin, Step, Zumba (aerobic dance), Kick Boxing, Running Club, Combat Fusion (combination boxing with martial arts) and more!
And for a nominal fee, many recreational centres offer child care so that you can enjoy your workout while your wee ones are being cared for.
