Brampton Survivors and Victims Day

On July 20th, survivors of child abuse unite and honor victims no longer here. Canada is one of four countries participating in a Survivors and Victims Day, along with the USA, Pakistan and Uganda.  Here in Brampton, Linda Beaudoin, an incest survivor, will be spearheading the local event.

As the day progresses, “There will be many fun activities with a balloon launch , a cast away in the stream, a BBQ, prizes and music” says organizer, Linda Beaudoin. “There is no cost but you can bring something for the picnic”. There will also be a Survivors and Victims wall collage of pictures. Survivors are encouraged to bring their photo. A candle vigil will end the event at 9pm. Beaudoin further emphasizes that “We will break the silence and stop the stigma.”

MP Kyle Seeback read at parliament June 15th to legislate a National Survivors and Victims Day.  Here is what he said http://openparliament.ca/debates/2012/6/15/kyle-seeback-2/.
